Ofsted Report

November 2023

Inspectors identified many positive areas and recognised the improvements that have been made and continue to be made.

As such, the following areas were graded as good:

  • Leadership and Management
  • Behaviour and Attitudes
  • Personal Development
  • Early Years Provision

The inspectors spoke to pupils who described the school as ‘friendly and welcoming’ and said ‘they feel happy and well looked after by staff’. They also identified where improvements were made to behaviour; ‘pupils behave well and they are happy to lend a helping hand to others’. We are delighted to share with you that inspectors said ‘pupils are prepared for life in modern Britain’.

We have invested a huge amount of time and support in upskilling staff across the school in line with our school development plan and this was recognised by inspectors ‘the school has increased the expertise of leaders and staff considerably’ which means ‘staff are delivering the curriculum with growing skill and confidence’.

 Where we have given priority to reading, inspectors saw this and said ‘in Nursery, staff share a wide range of high-quality books to ignite children’s interest and enthusiasm for reading’ and ‘older pupils read with increasing fluency and understanding’.

The inspection acknowledged that the effective support and guidance from the Trust has enabled Peel Brow to make ‘rapid improvements to the quality of the curriculum’. However, it correctly highlights that many of these improvements need more time to be demonstrated and evidenced for all of our pupils. In the areas where we have focussed our leadership and efforts, inspectors said ‘typically, pupils achieve more highly in these subjects’
