Welcome to our Year 6 class page.
We are the oldest children in the school and are very PROUD of our responsibility as role models in our school.
Mrs O’Donnell is our teacher. She likes cake, chocolate and fresh fruit (not in equal quantities), musical theatre and reading biographies!
PE is on a Thursday and let by the excellent Ed Start. PE kit and a change of shoes should be brought into school every Thursday.
READING contributes HUGELY to our learning by providing us with a wealth of worldwide knowledge.
Because of this everyone in Year 6 will read their Reading book at least 3 times a week and change their book at least once. Many children work though 4 and 5 reading books a week AND read other books alongside too. You are AMAZING!
Each week children must also learn their personalised spelling list of 10 words, ready for their spelling test each Thursday.
Scores will be written into their Homework Diary so that family members can praise every time they see an improving score.
Next half term, revision books will be sent home. These will focus on Reading, Grammar and Maths and one task from each book will be completed weekly. Each task will only take up to 10 MINUTES. Clear deadlines for return and the pages to complete will be communicated via text.
There will also be an open-ended task based on our Learning Challenge Curriculum that spans across the half term. Children should aim to expand and revise their wider curriculum knowledge by completing some of the tasks from the menu. This will be added into their Homework Diary so that it can be easily located for reference.
Don’t forget your WATER BOTTLE too – we aim to work up a thirst!
