Our Y2/3 Class
Hello and welcome to Y2/3 class webpage! Here you will find information to guide you and your child through this year.
I am Mrs. Jackson, and I am very excited to be teaching Y2/3 this year. We have so many exciting topics to study and trips planned for this school year. I love to read, my favourite food is pizza and my favourite colour is red. In our class we are supported by Mrs. Begum, Mrs Araya and Mrs. Munir. Miss Shedwick covers PPA on a Thursday.
In school you will need; a water bottle, reading book and record and a PE Kit.
There is an expectation that children in Year 2/3 should be reading for a minimum of 10 minutes each night, this can be their school reading book, as well as, any book from home/the library. Another alternative is reading magazines and comics. Reading contributes hugely to our learning by providing us with a wealth of worldwide knowledge.
Reading books and records should be brought to school each day, even if your child has not read. Your child will be given one book per week (depending on the length of the book) and if it is handed to Mrs Munir in the morning, we will do our best to change it the same day.
Weekly spellings will be sent home Fridays for a test the following Friday. Test scores will be in your child’s reading record.
Weekly phonics (Y2) or GCP books (Y3) will be sent home to be completed.
A menu style homework will be sent out each half-term to enhance your child’s wider curriculum learning. These tasks are optional and to be completed throughout the half term and brought into school when completed.
PE is every Wednesday. PE kits are to stay in school and will be sent home at the end of every half-term. Jewellery is not to be worn for PE sessions and earrings will need to be removed or plasters applied on these days. Please note PE days may change due to sessions with specialist coaches taking place in school.
PE Kit - White t-shirt, navy shorts, pumps and/or trainers.
At morning break time your child may bring fruit or a healthy cereal bar to eat during play time. A re-fillable water bottle is to be brought into school every day and can be re-filled as and when required throughout the day.
While we will always do our best to find missing items, your child is responsible for their belongings. Please make it easier for them by naming all items of clothing, including coats, hats and scarves.
