Peel Brow Primary School runs an annual election for each class to self-nominate and elect a member to represent their class at the weekly School Council meeting.
In support of the Ofsted requirement to promote British Values and democracy within schools the Council allows the children a voice on school matters that are important to them.
We are fortunate to be invited on an annual basis to the Mayoral Suite in Bury for the council members to get a first hand experience of British politics and bureacracy.
Following our visit, we received an email from the Mayor advising how much she and the Consort enjoyed our visit and all the very interesting questions from the children, who she said were lovely!
Here are some photos showing our members receiving their much coveted School Council badges from the Mayoress.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
